House of Health Sciences, Vienna – Construction site visit

A site tour of the “House of Health Sciences” building at Favoritenstrasse 226 was organised for our employees shortly after the topping-out ceremony. We took the U1 underground to get to site and then we made our way across the campus, passing by the newly constructed buildings, until we reached the construction site container. After that, we headed straight to the construction site itself, where the furniture from the topping-out ceremony the day before was still being removed. We had a brief discussion about the general aspects of the House of Health Sciences and the current progress of the construction site in the covered outdoor area. The explanations about the mullion and transom façade were particularly interesting. We then went into the main entrance area, where we were given a description of what the entrance area will look like in the future. The structure of the staircase was explained on the way up to the top floor. The plans that have been worked out for this mean that it is big enough to accommodate a lot of people. Walking from the top to the bottom and seeing the different construction phases on each floor was very interesting. At the top, it was almost still a shell and the further down we went, the more progress there was in the build. In the basement, we had a look at the underground car parks, the washrooms for the kitchen staff and the technical rooms. Some of the basement had already been tiled or work was in full swing. One of the small training rooms was already finished, which meant that we were given a proper demonstration of the technical installations (fire safety, ventilation, cooling, etc.) on the ceiling and the windows. Watching a crane being dismantled was also very interesting.

This event once again provided our employees with an exciting opportunity to gain valuable insights into the construction site. We are already looking forward to the next on-site inspection together!
