The start of construction was celebrated yesterday under the slogan ‘Baggerbiss’.
With a large turnout of invited guests from the client’s team, the planning team, the main contractor and the pupils and teaching staff, the ‘Baggerbiss’ (First dig) was carried out by the Lord Mayor of Braunschweig himself.
The name ‘Baggerbiss’ was chosen because the main contractor’s work begins with ‘precision demolition’. Due to the size of the site and the three distinct construction areas, the precision demolition and excavation stabilisation for the school and hotel sub-projects can take place simultaneously. Thanks to the outstanding commitment of the planners and the client, the project is ahead of schedule. Due to its prominent location in Braunschweig city centre, it is also the focus of public and political attention.
