Our office’s autumn trip last Friday took us to Brno, the second-largest city in the Czech Republic. After a pleasant two-hour coach journey, we went on an interesting sightseeing tour with our city guide Michal. In bright sunshine but rather frosty temperatures, we visited a number of historical buildings as well as contemporary architecture, such as the Masaryk University Library in Brno. Brno is well-known for some important modern buildings. The most famous building of this kind in Brno is the Villa Tugendhat by the German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Situated high up on a hill, we were able to enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of the Old Town of Brno from the villa’s garden. It is an architectural gem and therefore worth a trip to Brno. As our stomachs were already rumbling, we were all looking forward to going back to Brno’s Old Town, where a sumptuous 3-course meal awaited us in the hospitality room that had been specifically reserved for us. To get rid of the calories we had consumed, our coach took us to the exhibition centre, which is located a little out of town, where we went on a long walk before we started heading back home to Vienna at 5 p.m.
It was an extremely successful and enjoyable trip!
