To ensure a seamless catering service for all staff at Vienna Airport, the project employs a smart multi-site concept. Whilst all meals are freshly prepared daily at a central main site, direct delivery to the other sites ensures high-quality catering across the entire site.

Bright rooms using naturally light allow employees to enjoy a restful break in a pleasant atmosphere. Natural materials such as wood characterise the spaces, whilst plants and green accents create an environment that promotes well-being. Our concept impresses not only with its aesthetics but also with its well-thought-out logistics: screens inform staff of the daily menus and various options even before they reach the entrance area. This area also features fully stocked snack vending machines, a coffee machine and a water dispenser. These vending machines ensure that refreshments are available during breaks even when the canteen is closed.

Guide systems and information about the food on offer are designed to make meal collection efficient. The entrance and seating area is brightly lit and divided into zones to ensure a pleasant atmosphere. The serving area, which can be closed off with a roller shutter, is organised according to the free-flow concept, with the exception of the hot food counter. This area features a self-service station with drinks and takeaway display cabinets.
The cold station, situated between the preparation area and the cold store, offers space for salads, cold dishes and breakfast items.
The location of the return area near the exit and the cold store, centrally positioned between the back office and the serving area, enables efficient workflows and a high standard of service.
A waste pre-sorting area is planned in the return area to increase the recycling rate, reduce the load on the return trolleys and ease the workload on the washing-up staff. A cleaning supplies store and changing rooms are also planned.

With this project, Flughafen Wien AG is setting an example of its appreciation for all employees at the site and their needs by creating modern spaces that take into account both the culinary and social aspects of catering. Our aim is to address these needs through bespoke architecture and to implement them in the best possible way.
